Connecting Families with Nature, Lake Godstone™ is located about 30 minutes NE of Possum Kingdom Lake and 10 minutes north of Graford, Texas and features a battery supported Solar Energy System.

The roof of the lodge was designed with a 7 in 12 pitch facing 200 degrees (south-west) which is the correct pitch and direction to maximize the production of electrical energy produced by the solar energy system. The batteries are contained in the adjacent mechanical support building and are setup to collect energy from the solar energy system during the day (in case of power failure) and then “dump” the power (after midnight daily) that is stored in the batteries back into the electrical grid to provide credit against the energy account. The battery system of the solar energy system is setup to immediately turn on power to the lodge during a power outage and then turn off when power is restored. The batteries of the solar energy system are setup to provide power to only the most important functions in the lodge currently defined as the lighting, fridges, coffee machines and wifi devices.

The Inspiration Cabin also has a solar energy system with solar panels on it’s south facing roof that are designed to offset power useage of any kind during the daylight hours.

Our campus also has a 40 KW backup generator system that powers the balance or our campus in case of power failure. This generator does power all functions including air conditioning in our Guest Home, Maintenance Shed, Captains Cabin, Field House and Wilderness Roost Cabins.

All of our facilities are heavily insulated to minimize power use and the lodge can retain cool air for days without impacting the interior air by opening doors etc.

The entire property is fenced to prevent feral hog infiltration and we strive to support and preserve our various natural North Texas wildlife and vegetation in its natural state. Our feed and watering stations on our 188 acre forested and wooded ranch provide ample opportunities for our guests to see deer, raccoon, possum, skunk, coyote, bobcat, snakes, squirrels and a large variety of insects including honey bees at our small apiary.  The flowers on our property in the spring are beautiful and must be experienced.

The lake and our two fishing ponds provide a home to large mouth bass, crappie, channel catfish, bluegill, frogs, turtles and crawfish and a large variety of birds including herons, cardinals, robins, scissor-tailed flycatcher, painted bunting and red-winged blackbirds. To enjoy our wildlife and natural vegetation, we also provide a 35 person lodge, a three bedroom guest home, cabins and campgrounds to guests who seek an experience rather than a destination.

Our campus has seven partially covered docks with watercraft moorings, swim ladders and fish feeders to facilitate fishing for plentiful large mouth bass, bluegill, crappie and channel catfish. Canoes, kayaks, pedal boats and a row boat are available for rent as well as an eight-person pontoon boat with bimini and trolling motor. Our lodge is booked all or none and has an upper night sky covered viewing deck, a large porch with two restaurant booths and seating along the lake front where you can fish right off the porch.

The large fire pit has seating for 40 people and the classroom has a large big screen Roku TV for training, movies or sports. Our Wi-Fi- is campus-wide over all 188 acres and is included in rental of any of our facilities. Tranquil Trail is a four-mile hiking and mountain biking trail that takes our guests around the forested Lake, ponds, and upper wooded meadows where there are four wildlife viewing stations with elevated seating over wildlife feeders and watering holes.

Our sports fields feature a lit basketball court, baseball and soccer practice field and a sand volleyball court. Each of our lodge, guest home, cabins and campgrounds have a large fire pit with water, power, picnic tables, and they are connected with all-weather gravel roads with parking at each facility. Lake Godstone™ is forty foot deep and has excellent fishing but our Upper Beaver Pond and Lower Crappie Pond have fishing docks and water fountains as well and the fishing is very good at each pond as well.

With plentiful watershed from the surrounding hills into our retainage ponds, Lake Godstone™ is pretty full year-round. Please visit our reviews and book your next family adventure today.”
